I am happy to report that Miss April Day won me over. I wasn't sure at first because on the opening show, performer June Morrow seemed tense and self-conscious, with a bunch of nervous eyebrow raising and chin nodding and "Oh yeah".
But by about mid-way she settled down. And so I settled down, especially as I began to realize that her show was going to be more than I expected.
There are some lovely sudden shifts of pace, energy and theme. June Morrow really did work as a stripper for seven years (according to her website). She gives us real and straightforward information about that world, without pity, sensationalism or judgement.
It's a good show. It's fun and touching. And I liked the red dress.
